Balance de un año

La "nueva" Hg-net salió en linea a finales de marzo del año pasado. La re-afiliación necesaria para la implementación de una red interactiva significó a la vez un nuevo inicio desde "zero".
El hecho, que hasta abril de 2001 (es decir en un año) se han afiliado ochenta miembros de 25 países de todos los continentes es ciertamente un éxito; - o hablando en términos más modestos: un primer paso.

April 2001:

One year's balance

The "new" Hg-net went online the last days of march past year. The Re-Signup, required due to the implementation of an interactive network, was at the same time a new start from "zero".
The fact that until april 2001 (during this first year of operation) about eighty members from 25 countries from all continents have signed up, is definitely a success; - or let's better say: a first step.

Lo que ahora tenemos que preguntarnos es: ¿Qué metas nos proponemos para el próximo año?

Con seguridad, la Red Mercurio crecerá más todavía. Es realista de pronósticar, que a finales del 2001 habrá más de 200 miembros. Pero el posible impacto de nuestra Red no se basa en la cantidad. Las relaciones entre los miembros son el elemento vital. Es así, que la calidad de la Red Mercurio depende mucho de la participación activa de cada uno - mediante la distribución de información en la Lista de Correo, la difusión de Noticias, la publicación de documentos, o simplemente añadiendo nuevos enlaces Web interesantes.

De tal forma invito nuevamente a todos los miembros (actuales y futuros), de participar (inter)activamente en el desarrollo y el mejoramientos de la calidad de la Red Mercurio.

The question that now arrises is: "what goals should we set for the next year?"

Without any doubt, the Mercury Network will continue growing. It's realistic to forecast, that at the end of 2001 we will count more than 200 members. But the possible impact of our network isn't based just in quantity. The main ingredients are the relations, members are able to establish. Quality of the Mercury Network depends heavily on the active participation of all of us; by distributing information via our Mailing List Server, publication of News, publication of Documents or Reports, or simply adding new and interesting links to related Websites.

Therefore I'd like to repeat the invitation to all members (acual and new ones) to participate (inter)actively in the development and improvement of Mercury Network's quality.
